Working Together Placemaking Gallery

We invite you to view images of the events that have taken place during the East Harlem Working Together initiative. Here are a series of Placemaking events hosted by the initiative.

Dia de los muertos

On November 1st and 2nd, the District wore its best colors for Dia de los Muertos 2018.

Participating restaurants featured ceremonial altars to commemorate family, relatives and/or friends, who have passed away.

  • A band played by the altars, for a lively ambience to all.
  • Working Together offered free appetizers and face painting for anyone downloading the free tickets made available at Eventbrite.
  • It was a happy night for all, filled up with color, culture and good times.

Demolition Depot Video

Demolition Depot was created in 1998, and it has been at the same location (East 125th Street) since Demolition Depot, has been operating at location ever since (20 years). They specialize in vintage plumbing fixtures, doors, windows, shutters, railings, gates, grills, mantels, stone and terracotta pieces, religious objects and so much more. Their goal is to re-create and renovate period places, preserving architectural history by reclaiming building elements of unprecedented scale. Along the years in operation, Demolition Depot has rescued beautifully crafted pieces, certain to enhance the style of any residential and commercial building, restoration, and decorating projects.

We, at East Harlem, feel proud of having Demolition Depot as a member of the community and invite you to browse their depot, as an unique experience to travel back to early NYC times.
