It has been a busy but beautiful summer here in NYC and we appreciate every one of you who have been supporting and making East Harlem what it is! So many people have been committed to buying local and supporting their favorite merchants, and we’d like to thank you all!
Although the summer is coming to an end and temps are cooling back down, we’re not slowing down one bit! We have a few things going on this month that we think you’ll love.
First, we just celebrated along the 116th street corridor, the huge Mexican Independence Day celebration that happened this past Sunday! The Mexican-inspired street fair had a variety of vendors and thousands of visitors enjoying food and great entertainment, all to celebrate the independence of the people and culture of our southern neighboring nation.

Coming back around for the third time this year is our popular Cash Mob event, this time at Santiago’s Beer Garden. It will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 2 to 4PM. With the Cash Mob we gather groups of friends and family, and patronize a local East Harlem business. This allows the merchant to get to know their local customers, and helps the community feel more comfortable spending their hard earned cash there.
The two previous Cash Mobs were held at Dear Mama Cafe and Paladar Brazillian BBQ, and were a hit for both merchants and patrons. At each event, we encourage attendees to spend anywhere from $10 to $20, as every bit counts to help power the local economy. It’s always a fun community-building time, so make sure you and a friend RSVP here to #CatchTheCashMob!

Summer slowing down doesn’t mean East Harlem has to do the same, so we’re making sure you have plenty to do as the seasons change. On October 15th, The Business Development Center is hosting a FREE Marketing 101 workshop at 6pm at The Neighborhood Health Center. Headed by John Samalot who led our June marketing workshops, this one keeps it simple with the fundamentals of business marketing for those just getting started. To RSVP for this event, Contact Pablo Guzman at 3475676376.
We hope to see you around East Harlem soon, so keep up with us here and on social media to stay on top of what to do and where to go this fall!
