Program Description: Youth Action YouthBuild East Harlem (YAYB) is committed to helping young adults become dedicated, responsible, educated, accountable, motivated and self-sufficient, by assisting participants in obtaining their HSE’s, obtaining post-secondary education, gaining industry credentials, and securing sustainable employment, particularly in the areas of construction, the food economy, and the building trades.

The Youth Action YouthBuild program consists of the following components: HSE classes, construction training, job readiness preparation, life skills classes, job placement assistance, vocational and self-development counseling, college preparation and placement assistance, mentoring, and community service activities. YouthBuild is a youth and community development program that simultaneously addresses core issues facing low-income communities: housing, education, employment, crime prevention, and leadership development. In YouthBuild programs, low-income young people work toward their HSE certification, learn job skills, serve their communities by building and/or renovating affordable housing, and transform their own lives and roles in society.

Position Summary: Reporting to the Assistant Director of Programs, the Success Manager (SM) is responsible for the agency’s participant support services component. They will work with staff, current and past participants to ensure our youth have access to substantial supportive services throughout their YouthBuild experience. The SM is responsible for a caseload and provides initial assessments, case management, and referral services to ensure participant persistence and retention. They maintain a productive work environment ensuring high quality and consistent service provision by team members through regular check-ins, case conference meetings, and coaching. In addition, the SM manages and evolves the organizational network of wrap-around support services and partnerships for program year planning. Lastly, the success manager is responsible for showcasing YAYB’s participant success on our online social media platforms.


Maintain current and accurate files for a caseload of up to 25 participants each program cycle year in compliance with grant requirements.
Conduct initial and follow-up assessments to track the development and progress of Individual Development Plans (IDP), Exit Plans, and other needs-based supportive services for assigned caseload.
Meets with assigned caseload regularly to ensure implementation of relevant crisis and/or safety plan for the participant to achieve independence/self-efficacy.
Ensure timely and regular implementation of all assigned participant case notes into the program internal database as well as grant required systems (e.g., DOL, Salesforce).
Ensures confidentiality of verbal and written information received from youth/family and adheres to all legal, ethical and professional guidelines.
Leads bi-weekly case conference meetings, record outcomes and ensure implementation of follow-up strategies to ensure participant persistence and retention.
Manage YAYB’s social media accounts (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn) by creating social media posting schedules and writing captions for social media posts.
Proctor and grade the Test Assessing Basic Education (TABE) and input relevant data on YAYB’s salesforce platform.
Track participant’s daily attendance and implement follow-up strategies with participants to improve attendance and ensure persistence and retention in the YouthBuild program.
Generate periodic reports as requested.
Attend program planning meetings to assist with the implementation of the academic calendar and daily schedule.

Oversees and cultivates social service partner relationships.
Participate in scheduled staff meetings.
Participates in the agency’s Emergency Management/Operation Continuity team.
All other duties as assigned by the program’s leadership.


Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Human Service, Social Work, or other related fields.
Three years of work experience with youth development, community development, partnership development, and/or collaborations with local services and resources.
Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. The ability to relate to a wide range of issues, people, and institutions.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Exceptional planning, organizing, and multitasking skills along with good attention to detail.
The ability to set and follow through on priorities and demonstrate great time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to facilitate and supervise up to 30 young adults between the ages of 17-24.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel.
Flexibility to travel for occasional grant-related conferences or program-related excursions.
Ability to pass a background check.

Reporting: The Success Manager will report to the Assistant Director of Programs.

Program Hours: Generally, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional weekend and overnight hours may be required.
