Department Summary:
The Development Department supports NYAM’s mission by managing multiple revenue sources to meet annual fundraising targets.
Position Summary/Overview:
The newly created position of Major Gifts Officer is responsible for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a portfolio of 100+ donors and prospects with the potential to make five-figure-plus gifts and actively prospect and engage new donors. A major gift is defined as a donor who contributes $10K+ a year. The position reports to the Director of Development and will be part of NYAM’s dynamic development team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Create a robust donor pipeline by Identifying new prospects
- Work with the Development Director, President, Development Committee, Trustees and others to identify donors; craft stewardship and solicitation strategies, and develop a system to track progress
- Prepare the President, Trustees, Director of Development, and others by providing meeting memos, profiles and other materials for prospect and donor meetings
- Carefully track all major gift work in Salesforce by entering details of donor meetings/calls in a timely manner and report on the status of prospects outreach weekly
- Collaborate with the development team to execute an annual gala, cultivation events and stewardship opportunities and manage major gift follow up from these events
- Work collaboratively with other NYAM departments to advance mutual goals by creating cultivation and solicitation materials (brochures, letters, proposals, etc.).
- Identify planned giving prospects
- Other duties as required
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years major gift fundraising experience with a track record of success leading solicitation efforts and growing a donor pipeline
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational and prioritization skills and the ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to network and be persuasive
- Strong written and verbal skills
- Collaborative, team-oriented work style
- Commitment to NYAM’s health equity mission and to advancing an antiracist culture
- Proficiency in Salesforce
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
Salary Range:
$80,000 – $85,000 annually
Work Environment:
There is a COVID-19 vaccine mandate in place at NYAM. Currently, staff are working in a hybrid situation, however, this may change in accordance with organizational policies.
